OBJECTIVES OF THE NETWORK

3.1 Main Objective

To build and maintain a vibrant community of educators passionate about integrating educational technology (EdTech) into teaching, learning, and school leadership for improved educational outcomes in Uganda and beyond.


3.2 Specific Objectives

In pursuit of its main objective, the Network shall:

  1. Professional Development:
    Develop, offer, and accredit professional development programs, workshops, webinars, and certifications on educational technology for teachers, lecturers, and school leaders.
  2. Digital Literacy and Pedagogy:
    Promote the safe, ethical, and effective use of digital tools, online resources, and innovative pedagogies to enhance learner engagement and outcomes.
  3. Knowledge Sharing and Research:
    Research, document, and disseminate best practices, case studies, and success stories of EdTech integration across nursery, primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of education.
  4. Inclusivity and Accessibility:
    Advocate for inclusive and equitable access to EdTech for all learners and educators, including those with special needs and disabilities.
  5. Collaboration and Partnerships:
    Collaborate with government agencies, development partners, NGOs, the private sector, and academic institutions to promote and scale digital education initiatives.
  6. ICT Infrastructure and Support:
    Support schools and educational institutions in establishing ICT infrastructure, digital literacy programs, and school-based ICT policies that foster sustainable technology adoption.
  7. Innovation and Showcases:
    Organize exhibitions, hackathons, competitions, and innovation showcases for teachers and learners clubs to inspire creativity and recognize excellence in EdTech / ICT integration in STEAM (In Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics)

  8. Mentorship and Professional Learning Communities:
    Foster peer-to-peer mentorship, networking, and the formation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) among educators adopting educational technology.
  9. Responsible Digital Citizenship:
    Promote responsible digital citizenship, cybersecurity awareness, and digital wellness practices among teachers and learners.
  10. Digital Learning Hubs and Resource Centres:
    Establish regional digital learning and training centres to facilitate continuous upskilling of teachers, youth, and community members in ICT and other emerging skills.
  11. Consultancy and Technical Services:
    Offer professional services and consultancy in educational technology integration, ICT policy development, e-learning design, and school digital transformation.
  12. Software and Application Development:
    Engage in the design and development of educational platforms, school management systems, and EdTech tools that enhance digital teaching and learning experiences.
  13. Teacher Empowerment and Welfare:
    Support the physical, mental, and professional wellbeing of teachers through wellness programs, counselling, and teacher-led socio-economic initiatives such as savings and credit cooperatives.
  14. Policy Advocacy:
    Advocate for policies that promote digital inclusion, safe online learning environments, and sustainable technology use in education systems.
  15. Sustainability and Social Impact:
    Undertake projects and partnerships that promote environmental sustainability, and humanitarian use of technology in educationโ€”and such other activities as shall be relevant to sustain the organization and further its objectives.
