Empowering Educators and Learners: ETN’s Two-Day Digital Skills Workshop in Eastern Uganda

Jinja, Uganda – The EduTech Teachers Network (ETN) successfully hosted a two-day capacity-building workshop on digital skills for educators and learners, with participants converging from different regions of Uganda. The event, held at Jinja College, marked another milestone in ETN’s mission to transform education through technology.

Day 1: Building Educator Competence

The first day was dedicated to teachers, school leaders, and lecturers, with a focus on integrating educational technology in classrooms and school management. Attendees engaged in hands-on sessions covering essential digital pedagogy tools, ICT applications for administration, and project-based learning resources.

Facilitators from Sharebility Uganda and KAWA Uganda guided participants through practical exercises, introducing platforms and tools that enhance learner engagement, including collaborative apps, online learning communities, and educational multimedia. Certificates were awarded, and the day concluded with a group photo capturing the enthusiasm and commitment of the participating educators.

Day 2: STEAM Skills Empowerment for Learners

Day two welcomed learners who participated in the STEAM Clubs Skills Empowerment Seminar. Focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, learners explored mobile app development, web design, and multimedia creation. Under the guidance of expert facilitators, the participants developed practical projects that emphasized creativity, problem-solving, and technological fluency.

The sessions were highly interactive, allowing learners to showcase their work and receive constructive feedback, reinforcing ETN’s goal of fostering project-based learning and innovation among young people.

Acknowledgements and Upcoming Workshops

ETN extends sincere appreciation to facilitators from Sharebility Uganda, KAWA Uganda, the leadership of Nile Spark Innovation Hub, and the staff of Jinja College for hosting the workshop.

The network is set to continue its outreach with a similar workshop at Rwamurunga Community Secondary School, located in Isingiro District, near Kajaho Oruchinga Refugee Camp along Kikagate Road. Scheduled for Saturday, 22nd, and Sunday, 23rd November 2025, the workshop will offer educators and learners alike a hands-on platform for digital innovation.
